Background

An institution called Independent Press Council Myanmar (IPCM) was established in December 2023 by independent Myanmar media houses and practitioners both in exile and inside to promote media freedom and enhance protection for journalists in and outside of the country. The establishment of IPCM has been based on a constitution that they have already adopted and

the institutional establishment is now in the process. An IPCM Executive Committee (EC) has already been established with 10 committee members, including an elected chairperson, secretary,

and treasurer. It has already networked with a few like-minded institutions in the region but needs further strengthening to be established as a fully-fledged institution.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall administration, HR, and finance-related work of IPCM including

daily operations, managing the offices, and payments.

• To lead the regular meetings of IPCM, including admin-related meetings and budget-

related meetings.

• Responsible for understanding and assess the overall media landscapes and political

landscapes of Myanmar and IPCM.

• Managing office budgets and preparing of payroll for all staff and expenses of IPCM.

• Purchasing stationery and office supplies needed by the office.

• Purchasing and repair of office equipment.

• Managing small financial matters in the office.

• Analyzing accounting and financial data.

• Arranging business matters necessary for events.

• Managing inventory, approving, or facilitating purchases as needed, negotiating pricing

contracts, and verifying costs and receipts.

• Managing and registering the assets of IPCM including fixed assets, properties, cash,

software, and content owned by IPCM.

• To update and maintain office policies as necessary.

• Responsible to work closely with Admin Team of IPCM and other key persons of IPCM

for the successful daily operation and implementation of IPCM’s Strategy and planned

activities in 2024.

• Supervising the cleaning of the IPCM Office.

• Processing format forms required by the Admin.

• Processing format forms required for logistics.

• Responsible in assisting the Admin Team of IPCM.

• To send daily reports of progress and work done to Admin Team of IPCM.

• Carrying out business matters assigned by the Admin Team of IPCM.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High-level education in finance, accounting, Human Resource Management, Supply Chain Management, or at least 2 years of work experience in a related field

• Fluent in Burmese Languages, and have a good command of English Language. It is better if the interested person can speak the Thai language

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and accounting software

• Must have accounting experience o f at least 2 years and a n understanding on media organizations and/or local CBOs

• Experience in organizing HR data, logistic data, financial data, and providing reports

• Understanding humanitarian work and sharing the humanitarian values of the organization

• Must be familiar with banking (Bank transferring) and Hoondi (Cash transferring) system

• Must have good interpersonal skills and public relations or good

communication

• Must have a willingness to travel frequently for financial facilitation and monitoring

• Must have the commitment to perform the job on a full-time basis and can work

under pressure

• Legal status document in Thailand
